When selling an item on ebay, make the starting list price at $.99 instead of $1.00 and $9.99 instead of $10.00. The difference in listing fees is $.20. Why do you care about the cost of less than a postage stamp? If you are selling ten items it quickly turns from the cost of a postage stamp to the cost of a gallon of gas. 2. If a picture is worth a thousand words you should always use a Gallery picture even though this adds $.35 to your listing fees. 3. When using photos for your auction, you can upload them to your broadband web server (usually free of charge) and store them there. You can then add the photo url to the body of your auction using the link I have included below. Ebay does not charge the usual $.15 per photo if you add your pictures this way. “
<ALIGN="CENTER">
<IMG src="picture link goes here" border=0
“ 4. Communication is key to success and good feedback. Listing an auction and not checking your email and auction daily is just plain irresponsible. In today's internet medium of instant gratification, diligent monitoring and quick response are a must to sell your item. Which leads to the next tip. 5. When asking a seller a question about an auction be articulate. Do not leave personal information such as your name and phone number. These questions can be posted in their auction for all the world to see. 6. Feedback is a way to show your past performance and dealings with people. It is always in your best interests to come to a mutual agreement in case of disputes. 7. Inevitably you will run into that obnoxious seller that files a non paying bidder alert because they only accept checks and snail mail hasn't arrived or they are too lazy to got to the Post Office. You might get a deadbeat buyer that keeps asking why you haven't sent the item when it has been mailed or you have not received payment. Sometimes you can resolve the issue by getting their contact information. Click on advanced search (just below the search box at the top of my eBay page). On the left of the next page under members, click on find contact information, then you can type in the user ID of the member and the item number of the transaction in question. Ebay will then email both you and the other member each others contact information. 8. Sell internationally, we are in a world economy. Use electronic payment such as Paypal before shipping the item. Warn international buyers ahead of time, some countries take a month to deliver packages. I don't want to point a finger at any country in particular but lets just say I would like to give there postal service the “boot”. 9. Find your niche. If blue pet rocks are plentiful in your area and are selling in Japan for a reasonable profit, sell blue pet rocks to Japan. Sell until everyone has a blue pet rock or until they decide they now want green ones. 10. Don’t fall for the many scams sent out such as the email congratulating you on becoming a power seller. Don’t Just fill out this form and give them your account name, password and credit card number. Paypal and ebay will never ask for your password or credit card number in an email. Check for the misuse of the English language in these scams to alert you of its illegitimacy. If you suspect a scam forward the email to spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com.
