"Resistance is futile." A place for humans to assimilate perfection or just go to survive in today’s computer world. For those of you that don't know what a cyborg (CYBernetic ORGanism) is, Answers.com defines a cyborg as a human who has certain physiological processes aided or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices. Cyborgs have been on TV and in movies such as the Six Million Dollar Man, RoboCop, Aliens, and Star Trek the Next Generation. In reality as you grow older, you will request to become a cyborg whether it's to use a hearing aid, a motorized wheelchair or have your computer read you the morning newspaper. The controversial Professor Kevin Warwick, author of "I, Cyborg" and expert in cybernetics, summed it up when he said "There is no way I want to stay a mere human." This may sound arrogant or self-centered but why can't we use technology to better ourselves? For now we can improve ourselves by using the powerful computer. This website is for people who would like to use computers to make there lives better. Email any questions or problems with computers or networking and get free help and solutions from a multi-certified technician. Email helpdesk@computercyborg.com Do I need to upgrade to Windows Vista? Having used Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1 was a test version of Vista) for the last 9 months, I can recommend there is not an urgent need to upgrade to Windows Vista. Most likely your current PC will not be able to handle it or you may have a sound card that is not currently supported by Vista which will require a hardware upgrade. How do I install a new HP c4180 Photosmart printer on Windows Vista? Get online and go to http://welcome.hp.com/country/lamerica_nsc_carib/en/support.html Check the radio button for "Download drivers and software" For product type "c4180" an then click the >> button On the Software & Driver downloads page Click on your operating system " Microsoft Windows Vista" On this driver page click on the "HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers" Or the "HP Photosmart Basic Print and Scan Driver" You may want to use the basic driver if you have dial up and need to get it going faster than the 10 hrs it takes to download the full features on dial up internet. If you have cable or DSL internet be sure to use the full features link. Scroll down to: Installation Instructions for the full feature software: 1. Click the Download only button. Note: Make sure the HP All-in-One device is "Not" connected to the computer before running the download file. 2. Click the Run button to begin the download. Note: File is compressed and may take time to expand and run. 3. When it is downloaded to your desktop, double click on the "AIO_CDA_Full_Non-Network_DVD.exe " 4. Your product should be ready to print. Why does my PC seem to run slower as each day goes by? The cheapest way to speed up your PC is to run msconfig and shut down unneeded or unnecessary programs and applications. Go to start, run, and type in "msconfig", click OK. This will bring up the System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab, in the window uncheck everything that you do not absolutely need running. Your antivirus would be a program to leave checked. Click OK A box will come up asking you to restart or exit without restarting. If you do not need to reboot at this time click "exit without restarting", just remember the next time you restart that the System Configuration Utility will come up and explain how to change your startup programs back to the way they were before. Be sure to check the box to "not show this again", and then click OK. I have installed a new program and can’t get my PC to boot up? Restart your computer and then press the F8 key at the top of your keyboard. It is best to press this key about every 2 seconds or until your PC beeps at you, this is the PCs way of saying "yes I know you said to go to the boot up menu". If you see the Windows Boot Splash screen, you have missed the moment and you should shut off the PC and try again. When you get to the boot up screen you will see selections such as "Boot up normally", "Use last known good configuration" and "Safe Mode". Use the arrow key to move to the selection of "Safe Mode". You may be asked for the administrator's password or the password of user that has administrative rights. When you have keyed in the password and have booted into "Safe Mode", Click on Start, Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs and remove that last program you just installed. Restart and boot up normally. Should I buy a new hard drive or replace my old PC with a new one? This question cannot be explained in a simple answer. If you have less or older than: 450 Mhz processor 128 MB of RAM Windows 2000 Video card with at least 64 MB of VRAM You may as well buy a new PC. Although new hard drives are considerably larger and cheaper than a couple years back, if you have less than the above requirements, it will be hard to do much on the untamed internet. If you plan on using your PC only for emails, instant messaging and homework papers, you may as well put in a new hard drive and save some money. What’s the fastest and easiest way to speed up my PC? RAM, RAM and more RAM! Email any questions or problems with computers or networking and get free help and solutions from a multi-certified technician. |
